Privacy Policy
Data Controller: Dionatas Gonçalves Paz, Braunser Weg 40, 34454 Bad Arolsen, Germany.
We are committed to protecting your privacy while providing a reliable tool for language mastery through real-world news context.
1. Information We Collect
To facilitate language acquisition and provide relevant content, we collect the following:
- Account Information: Your email address is collected via Firebase Authentication to sync your progress and subscription across devices.
- Usage & Learning Data: We track articles read and vocabulary interactions to personalize your translation settings and learning experience.
- Digital Identifiers: We collect the Android Advertising ID (on Android) and the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA, on iOS) for internal app analytics and performance monitoring. These identifiers help us understand general app usage patterns to improve the user experience. This data is only collected after you have provided explicit opt-in consent within the app or your device settings — on iOS, via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. It is not essential for the core functionality of the app. You can withdraw consent, reset, or opt out of this tracking at any time via your device's "Ads" settings on Android, or via Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on iOS.
- Subscription Data: Trial status and payment records are managed via RevenueCat together with Google Play Billing (Android) or Apple In-App Purchase (iOS).
2. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
We process your data under the following legal frameworks:
- Contractual Necessity (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): To provide the app's core functionality and manage the 7-day trial.
- Legitimate Interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): To improve our translation engine, ensure app stability, and prevent fraud.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): For the use of advertising identifiers (where opted-in) and optional push notifications.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
3. Data Sharing & International Transfers
We do not sell your data. To deliver our service, we share data with:
- Google Firebase: For secure authentication and encrypted data storage.
- RevenueCat: To manage your trial and subscription lifecycle.
- Google Play Services: To process secure payments on Android.
- Apple App Store services: To process secure payments on iOS.
- International Transfers: These providers may process data in the US; we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure your data remains legally protected.
4. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your personal data and learning history as long as your account is active to ensure your progress is maintained. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time through the app settings. Upon deletion, your personal data will be permanently removed from our active systems. We may retain certain transactional data only where strictly required by law (e.g., mandatory tax retention periods for subscription payments).
5. Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
- Restrict or object to our processing of your data.
- Data Portability: Request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw Consent: Withdraw your consent for tracking or notifications at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing that occurred before the withdrawal.
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority in Germany or your local EU member state.
6. Push Notifications
Push notifications are optional. We will only send you notifications if you explicitly opt in. You can enable or disable these at any time through your device's system settings.
